Billboard is a visual medium whose main characteristic is that it must cause a GREAT IMPACT and harmonically integrate the elements:
- The physical elements of a poster constitute the arrangement or physical treatment or visual appeal. Eg: image, text, color, composition, size and format.
- The image must be the synthesis that summarizes the minimum idea of graphic expression without ceasing to be clear and significant. The image can be natural (human figure, living beings and everything around us) and appeal much to the attention of the viewer; geometric, they are simple, they are easily identified and do not require much effort from the viewer; And abstract, the most important of these resources is that they are controversial and depend on the personality of the creator, you have to use them only if the level of understanding is sufficient. All of them can be photographic (natural or retouched) or drawings (realistic, caricatured or stylized).
- The psychological elements stimulate the viewer to guide him towards what is intended in the message.
A good Billboard is the one that draws attention spontaneously regardless of the will of the viewer.
There are two types of billboard:
- Formative: its function is to raise awareness. When the image is more important than the text, the message must be clearly expressed and it will only be supported by the text when it emphasizes the idea that it wants to transmit. Used to promote: healthy lifestyle habits, confidence, safety, etc.
- Informative: communicate events, conferences, contest; induces direct action; It has only text and image. The text must be large and legible at a distance; besides that there has to be a contrast between the background and the color of the letter. There just has to be indispensable information. The image has to be closely linked to the text so that the relationship of the image with the text must be clear and not distort the main message.
Both one and the other must understand the meaning globally.
