The radio offers differents way to communicate ideas:

  • Musical genre: it's the simplest way to express in the radio and it's related to the music (as the title say). This genre is divided into subgenres:
    • Magazines: is one of the most common genres of radio production. The implementation of music content is of utmost importance for the realization of the programs that are made in this format.
    • Ranking: Format usually used by radios of a commercial nature, where a series of songs with a high popularity rate is exposed. It can be seen as a space of promotion of local and independent artists and musicians.
    • Report of music artist-guest: The musical and the journalistic are mixed, giving it precisely a research focus. It can be managed as a program with the intention of going through the history of a band, a musical genre, presenting interviews with the artist or taking advantage of the live space.
  • Dramatic genre: Used to tell real or fictional stories with a narrative tendency imposed through the voice of their announcers.
    • Radio heater-Radio Novel: This allows to perform a work of dramatic character with only the implementation of sounds; the voice and music, accompanied by special effects are the fundamental elements to carry out such a sound composition.
    • Literary adaptation: It is the retransmission of literary stories through the voice of a narrator, putting the very elements that feed and strengthen the radiophonic language. In this case, the adaptation of this type of content is seen as a method of transmitting non-conventional information of an educational nature.
    • Sociodrama: Used with the aim of transmitting a message of reflection and appropriation towards the listener, addressing issues of concern to the community in various areas such as family, school, work.
  • Genre of opinion: 
    • Debate: One of the most recognized formats of this genre; In it two or more people are invited to propose and defend their point of view with respect to a certain topic.
    • Special Report: It is a journalistic genre used within the radial opinion formats, taking into account that its production involves circumstantial elements of information, research and personal criteria. Despite being of an informative nature, it also generates debate put in tension different journalistic voices around the topic that is being discussed.
  • Informative genre: It has the character of immediate information transmission.
    • News: Understood and worked as a set of news of a specific area of ​​local or national character. To develop this format, the station must have its own agenda, complying with the coverage of the issues that it considers important and relevant according to its approach. 
    • Interview: Part of the notion of a conversation focused on a specific topic by two parties.
    • Chronicle: The chronicle goes far beyond the informative content. Trying to bring the listener much closer to the situation with the sound content generated by the journalist with the intention of recreating the moments he describes and narrates. The language of this radial format must be direct, and loaded with a certain personal style of the author that portrays details that feed the narration that is made. It is worth clarifying that a post-production process in this format, for its development and success in the presentation.
