Types of microphones

There are three types of microphones, however, it must be taken into account that each of these types could work for one type of audio and not for another type of audio. They are:
- Condenser: typical microphones of the studios. In turn, they are classified into two subtypes: large diaphragm condenser and small diaphragm condenser (or pencil); The difference is that the former captures the signal more broadly while the latter captures it in a more localized way. For its operation, it needs an external power: Phantom Power (+ 48V), present in the interface of our audio. They offer a detailed sound since it has a high sensitivity to sound.

- Dynamics: These are the classic ones and they are even included with the karaoke system. They are quite cheap and very durable, so they are cheap. They need the source to be close and they do not work well with the high frequencies, however, they resist the high sound pressures.
- Ribbon: They are very expensive due to the material used and, therefore, they are also extremely fragile; They have a small thin sheet of metal, which can be easily broken if it receives high levels of sound pressure or with the use of Phantom Power.

Each of these microphones can have one or more integrated polar patterns, which are what allow the microphone to capture the sound.
- Cardioid: only captures the sound that comes from the direction in which the microphone points; rejects the sound coming from behind.
- Figure 8: Capture the sound coming from the front, from the back and from the side; reject the sound of the sides.

- Omni: detects the signal in all its circumference.
